Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever technology they browse with. That means the site should work with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at high zoom levels, with reduced motion enabled and on a small screen.

The standard we target

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We test against that standard as part of building and changing the site, rather than as a one-off audit.

What we have done

  • Keyboard access.Every interactive element is reachable and operable with a keyboard. A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach on each page, and the mobile menu traps focus while open, closes with Escape and returns focus to the button that opened it.
  • Visible focus. A clear focus outline is shown on every control, in a colour that meets the contrast requirement against both the light and dark sections.
  • Colour contrast. Body text meets at least 4.5:1 against its background and large headings at least 3:1. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — errors carry an icon and text, and the active navigation link is marked with aria-current as well as an underline.
  • Forms. Every field has a visible, permanently associated label — placeholders are never used as labels. Errors are announced to screen readers, described in text, and linked to the field they belong to. Required fields are marked visibly and programmatically.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are disabled.
  • Structure. Pages use one h1 followed by a correct heading order, landmark regions for the header, navigation, main content and footer, and descriptive labels where more than one navigation region appears.
  • Zoom and reflow. Content reflows to a single column at 320px width and remains usable at 400% zoom. Pinch-zoom is not disabled.
  • Images. Meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them rather than reading a filename.
  • Target size. Interactive controls are at least 44px in their smallest dimension, comfortably above the WCAG 2.2 minimum.

Known limitations

We are being specific here rather than general, because it is more useful:

  • Third-party links. WhatsApp opens on an external site we do not control and cannot guarantee the accessibility of. These links are marked as opening in a new tab.
  • Decorative background texture. A very low-opacity grain overlay sits above the page. It does not affect contrast measurements or interaction, but if it causes you any difficulty please tell us.
  • Formal audit. This statement is based on our own testing. An independent audit has not yet been carried out.
